Growing Uncommon Fruit Cohort

January 6, 2027
A branch heavy with clusters of elongated, blue-toned honeyberries and green leaves.

Designed to support your journey into sustainable and diversified farming, this cohort provides technical guidance, peer support, and access to experienced mentors in a cohesive and friendly environment. Cohort members will:

• Receive an opportunity for free enrollment into the online course BF 123: Agroforestry Fruit Crops, previously called Growing Uncommon Fruit, which covers a wide selection of uncommon fruit that can be grown in various systems.
• Participate in virtual learning sessions outside of the online course with experts and NYS growers producing specialty and uncommon fruit.
• Collaborate with other aspiring and beginning farmers.
• Receive early bird information on other virtual and in-person events pertaining to uncommon fruit occuring throughout 2027.

If you have already taken the online course or choose not to take the course, you will still be invited to all the cohort virtual events, which will include:

  • Cohort Kick Off Meeting
  • BF 123: Agroforestry Fruit Crops
  • Mid Course Check In
  • How Currants became Current | Greg Quinn
  • End of Course Check In
  • Growing Rare and Remarkable Fruit | Roger Ort

Whether you’re just getting started or looking to diversify your current operation, this cohort will help you gain the knowledge and insight needed to grow uncommon fruit successfully.
